Good morning fellow sailors,
The Fantasea Cruises club championship race 5 and Bill ‘W’ Rogers series
race 1 got underway with a light Nor’easter testing the fleet as they fought
their way towards Henning island. Some great duels occurred with Cool
Runnings and The Lemon crossing tacks whilst Hedonism and Adrenalin put the
squeeze on each other.
The Lasers where out on the track for the first time and the four boats
enjoyed some close racing on their own course around Plum Pudding and a Dent
Island mark. Two races, two winners.
The combined start with the smaller boats starting at 5.15 and the larger
boats at 5.25 was voted as the preferred starting method so will continue
for October. The Lasers will start their first race at 5.20.
Bill ‘W’ Rogers Race 1
1st Cool Runnings
2nd The Lemon
3rd Run A Muk
4th Bahai
5th Hedonism
6th Adrenalin
7th Swanky
8th Protocol
9th Sunsail 1
10th Sunsail 2
The Lasers saw Chris Wallington win race 1 and Stuart Green win race 2 with
Johanna and Andie Saville winning both races in the 2 up division.
Post race saw another great turnout with around 50 sailors and friends
enjoying a steak, a beer and a laugh. Trevor Hewitt not only performed on
the water in The Lemon but performed brilliantly on the BBQ, rumour has it
he has been asked to expand his business to ‘Buggy and Bistro’…
It was great to see so many staff out enjoying the Wednesday evening
twilight sailing.
A reminder that on Monday night the CYCHI is hosting crews from Whitsunday,
Abel Point and Mackay sailing clubs prior to their start in Dent Passage on
Tuesday morning for the WORC series. We will run a BBQ and the bar from
around 6.30, it would be great to have our members join with them over a
quiet little drink.
I will be away sailing in Sydney next week, so have a good race next week
and I will update you in two weeks time.
Yours in sailing
Keith Logan
