Cruising Yacht Club of Hamilton Island

Good Afternoon All, for those who live in the Wsy’s, you will be aware there has been, and is forecast, a modicum of precipitation. A bit of breeze is forecast for a few days also. As usual the CYC will err on the side of caution, Commodore Walsh will make a call later tmrw arvo about sailing, my feeling is don’t get too excited about it just yet.

So, instead of sailing, what will you do ?? If you are as old as Walshy, you can pass some time by dusting off the leather sandals and going to watch the Christians being thrown to the lions. If you are as old as the handicapper you can see Shakespeare perform live, Taming of The Shrew perhaps, but none of these have the ability to dull your brain like TV. Especially in the comfort of your own room.

So, instead of being brain dead, head to the clubhouse for a bbq, it could start a bit earlier in the event of no sailing, say 6pm, this week there will be a members draw, my apology, I forgot last week.

Good Afternoon All, as you may be aware there are varying weather forecasts for tomorrow, the weather could be fresh to frightening with precipitation.

Commodore Walsh will make a call soon after 1600 on the event of a race. If we do not have a race, the bbq will still proceed, tmrw night is members draw, you have to be there to win.

Hopefully it will all blow over and we have a pleasant afternoon,

Good Afternoon boys and girls, results etc attached. Having been away a bit, and a bit slack as a result, it has been pleasing to see volunteers to cook the bbq etc, someone to do the bar a bit to give Georgie a break would be good, but thanks to all anyway.

As mentioned, Trophy night is 26/05, 6pm at the HI Yacht Club, swish venue, so appropriate dress is required, tickets are now available, and we are strictly limited in numbers, so book now. You can call Georgina on 0467 641865, or thru’ the wizard in the sky, you can EFT to CYC of Ham Is, BSB 084704, acc 63847 3755. Seriously, get your tables together, it will be a great night, and it’s a mere $75 per head, incl entry drinks & canapés.

Attached are the race results from last night and the new handicaps for next week.

After calculating the new handicaps, I have moved all the times forward by 6 minutes as explained last night and I will do this each week for the rest of the season due to the shortened daylight hours.

Good afternoon

I am writing to you to with the sad news that Lachy Warlters, long time member of Moreton Bay Yacht Club and past member of RQYS passed away peacefully yesterday morning after a short battle with cancer. Lachy was well known and liked in sailing circles all across the bay and will be sadly missed. Lachy’s funeral will be held at the Albany Creek Crematorium Garden Chapel on Albany Creek Road, Albany Creek on Monday 12th March beginning at 3.30pm. Would you please broadcast this to your members as I am sure that those who knew Lachy would like to pay their respects.
